Marilyn K. Jurrens, age 60 of Yankton, SD died very unexpectedly on Thursday, January 9, 2014. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church, Yankton, SD with Rev. Jon Cooke officiating. Visitation will begin at 5 PM Friday, January 17, 2014 with prayer Service at 7 PM at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home and Crematory, Yankton. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday, January 18, 2014. Marilyn was born in Yankton, SD on May 1, 1953 to Donald and Mary J. (Garrigan) Waters but was raised by Mary J. and Robert Drevecky. She was united in marriage to Scott Jurrens on October 23, 1982 in Yankton, SD. She attended Lake Area Vocational School from 1978 to 1979 and received her LPN degree and went on to USD from 1988 to 1990, achieving her RN degree. She devoted over 30 years as a dedicated nurse until her health led her to give up her nursing career. At the time of her death she was working at Vishay Electronics and made numerous friends in all her working endeavors. Marilyn was very active in her church and youth group, as well as PTA Member at Beadle Elementary School from 1990 to 1996. She also loved to read, work in her vegetable garden, canning, tending to her beautiful flowers, numerous arts and craft projects, scrapbooking, jewelry making, collecting Precious Moments figurines, spending time at the beach with family and friends, and loved concerts and music of all kinds. She is survived by her husband, Scott Jurrens of Yankton, SD; a beloved son, John Jurrens and his fiancé, Theresa Boos, both of Sioux Falls, SD; step-father, Robert Drevecky of Watertown, SD; brothers, Daniel Drevecky of Watertown, SD, David (Melissa) Drevecky of Norfolk, NE; sisters: Pamela (Gary) Morris of Watertown, SD, Mary P. Drevecky of Watertown, SD, Bobbi Drevecky of Sioux Falls, SD; nephews: Chad DeWall, Theodore Drevecky, Charles Drevecky, Kasey Drevecky; nieces: Colleen DeWall, Jessica (Cory) Stemwedel, Amber Fernau, Ashley Drevecky and Emily Drevecky; great nephew and nieces: Hudson and Haidyn DeJean, Blake Fernau and Lydia Stemwedel; aunt, Doris Madison and family; uncle, Dennis (Trudy) Garrigan; several extended aunts, uncles, and cousins from both step-fathers and father's family; a brother in-law, Chris (Jeanne) Jurrens and family; also, a cherished dog, Nikki, and numerous anonymous friends. If advertently anyone was missed, it was not intentional, but they will not be forgotten. Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother, Mary J. Drevecky, father, Donald Waters, maternal grandparents, David and Alvira Garrigan, mother and father-in-law, Russell (Greeta) Jurrens, uncles: John (Jack) Garrigan, James (Jim) Garrigan, James Madison, and Henry (Marge) Happe; a great niece, Sierra DeWall; and beloved dog, Maggie. One of her favorite sayings was "I dream of angels but live with ghosts and demons." Marilyn will be missed by everyone that entered and touched her life.
