Obituary of Loretta Mae Hackett
Loretta was born in Yankton, South Dakota, on August 29, 1925, to Richard and Helen (Walloch) Barta. She was married to Raymond Calvin Hackett in Yankton, SD and to this marriage, six children were born. Loretta grew up in Lesterville, South Dakota, where her father farmed and owned a variety store. She attended Mt. Marty College, Yankton, SD and taught school in Lesterville, SD. Later, Loretta and her husband were the owners of Hackett’s Grocery Store and Hackett’s Bar in Yankton. She enjoyed walking, playing cards, going on shopping trips with her daughters, and visiting the local bakeries.
Loretta is survived by her children: Robert (Judy) Hackett of Yankton, SD and their children, Ryan of Yankton, SD and Robert, Jr. of Sioux Falls, SD; Donald Hackett of Rapid City and their children: Matthew of Rapid City, SD, Katie of Yankton, SD and Mattie of Rapid City, SD; Patsy (Cliff) Harris of Pocatello, ID and their children: Lisa Burt, Corey Dunn and Jodi Dunn, all of Pocatello, ID; Diane (Tim) Scott of Bemidji, MN and their children: Kerri (Ken) Sutton of Yakima, WA, Jeneille Barkl of Boise, ID and Kassie Scott of Clearwater, MN; Carol (Terry) Jensen of Irene, SD and their children: Travis Hauger of Yankton, SD, Chad (Kristi) Hauger of Yankton, SD and Melissa (Nathan) Bruss of Marshall, MN; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, Viola Scherschligt, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Steven; one brother, Francis (Darlene) Barta; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Hackett; and one brother-in-law, Fred Scherschligt.
