Obituary of Virginia Dvoracek
Virginia was born June 19, 1922 in rural Irene, SD to Ullin B. and Alice (Rinker) White. She graduated from Yankton High School on May 31, 1940. Virginia married Charles Edward Dvoracek on March 18, 1941 in Utica, SD. Her first job was washing dishes for $5.00/week. She clerked at Newberry's, Casey’s making donuts, cooked at Southern State College in Springfield, SD and worked at Gurney’s Seed and Nursery. Virginia worked beside her husband on the farm for 35 years and then both retired and moved to Springfield, SD. She moved to Yankton, SD in 2000. She enjoyed family, friends, farm life, gardening and canning. She also loved to play pinochle, bingo and loved to be busy. Virginia had a love for animals, especially cats; her favorite, “Patches”.
Virginia is survived by her sons, Dwayne (Maxine) Dvoracek of Salisbury, NC and Dave (Joanne) Dvoracek of Springfield, SD; daughters, Janice LeMay of Cambridge, MN and Peg Stratman of Yankton, SD; seven grandchildren: Marc (Teresa) Dvoracek, Dawn (Rob) Paret, Todd (Maggie) Dvoracek, Keith (Jaclyn) Dvoracek, Jackie (Tyler) Abel, Amy (Jerry) Hermanek and Eric Stratman and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Charles (1990); parents, Ullin & Alice White; son, Kenneth; brother, Vernon White; sister, Esther Knodel; grandson, Matthew Dvoracek and son-in-law, Bill LeMay.
