Through FarmHouse years and after I admired Doug's work ethic. HIs dedication to completing the task at hand. Doug was an inspiration to me as he was able to adapt to the life challenges thrown at him. Through it all Doug's faith in God shown through the life he lived. His life glorified God as he continued to Love God and Love Neighbor. I always looked forward to my family being able to host Doug in our home during his State Fair work as 4-H swine superintendent. I, along with many others, truly believe Doug has been received into heaven with the words of welcome, "Well done, good and faithful servant." Your brother in Christ Eugene Moeller

Doug courageously persevered. He was a fraternity brother and friend. I last saw him at FarmHouse in Brookings a few years ago and we had a nice conversation. It’s wonderful that he had the time he did to be with and enjoy family and friends. My condolences to Roberta and the family.

My memories of Doug reach back to University 4-H Club, and FarmHouse Fraternity at SDSU. We were lucky enough to be able to host Doug each year when he came to Huron to work at the SD State Fair. We looked forward to the daily reports on the antics of the growing number of 4-H goats at the Fair! He wasn't sure about how much wind our mobile home might withstand, but we survived! For some years we got together with a few other FH couples each January, and always looked forward to that reunion. We are so grateful that we were able to visit with Doug & Bert this fall, and now those moments hold even more value. For our friendship through the years, we are so very grateful! You both are an integral part of our life, and we shall ever be thankful for you both. Doug taught us many life lessons and we always loved hearing his voice on WNAX call ins! It was never quiet when Doug was in the house, and I look forward (with great joy) to hearing his voice when we are together once again! All our love to you: Bert, Paul, Julie, Jay and Raelynn as you grieve and remember. It is my prayer that in these days, you share favorite memories and find joy and laughter as you look back over Doug's life well-lived.
