Marilyn was born on September 20, 1929 in Shreveport, LA where she spent her childhood years and graduated high school. She married Joe V Kidney on November 29, 1951. Joe was an Air Force pilot and they spent many years moving around the USA and even to Germany. They had 2 sons - Richard Ray (Havelock, NC), and John David Kidney (Vermillion, SD). She endured Joe’s many absences with temporary duty assignments, and both Joe & Richard’s service in Vietnam.

Joe retired in 1971 and they moved to Clarinda, IA where Joe opened an automotive parts store with his brother Denton. Marilyn helped with the bookkeeping at the store. She loved entertaining and making wonderful meals for her family. She spent the last 7 years in independent/assisted living at Majestic Bluffs in Yankton, SD, where her caretakers became family. Their care during covid and hospice was amazing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, and a brother and sister. She has 5 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
