Please share a memory of Lance to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lance D. Sundleaf, age 46 of Yankton passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center in Lennox, SD. Lance was born January 8, 1970, son of Darrell and Martha June (Hofer) Sundleaf in Freeman, SD. Lance grew up in Yankton and was very active in all sports through grade school, high school and into college. Basketball and golf as a Yankton Buck with baseball through little league to Legion and then at Northern State University in Aberdeen before transferring to University of Minnesota-Mankato. Fishing became a lifetime sport when his family moved to an acreage east of Yankton on the Jim River Bottom. Lance during these years, would be joined by his 3 brothers and spend days learning and enjoying fishing. This sport continued into adulthood as he did years of tournament fishing belonging to the Lewis and Clark Basslanders Club. Lance worked in Yankton several years with metal building construction and then a career at SAPA Extrusions before a hemorrhagic stroke in 2014 caused necessity to live at Good Samaritan Center in Centerville, SD and then Lennox, SD until his recent passing. Though physically impaired on his right side, he fortunately suffered no mental disability and always enjoyed being the young man at the home that the older residents enjoyed. Wherever Lance was, his personality was such that anyone around him all said the same thing “Everyone Loves Lance”. Lance is survived by his daughter, Kyra (17) and son, Carson (14) both of Scotland, SD; his parents, Darrell and Martha June (Hofer) Sundleaf of Yankton, SD; three brothers: Darren of Yankton, SD, Layne (Karyn) of Wilmington, DE, Shane (Melissa) of Yankton; two sisters: Stacey (Erik) Johnson of Aliso Viejo, CA and Wendy (Sean) Helean of San Jose, NM; uncles and aunts: Dennis (Friend, Mary Loecker) Sundleaf of Yankton, SD, Marlene Schoen of Sioux Falls, SD, Jerry Hofer of Freeman, SD, Gary and Andrea (Hofer) Pfeiffer of Freeman, SD and several nephews and a niece. Lance, the Heavenly Bass Lakes are waiting for you and Jesus will let you know which side of the boat to cast your lines.
