Obituary of Larry J. Carda

Please share a memory of Larry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Larry was born May 31, 1937 to James and Anna (Hnilo) Carda of Tabor, SD. He graduated from Tabor High School in 1945. He served his country in the Army National Guard from 1955 to 1963. He married Darlene Kozak on July 2, 1958. To this union, 4 daughters were born. He worked for a time as an electrician before moving to the family homestead and continued operating the family dairy for 35 years. For the next 21 years, he was a contractor for the Army Corps of Engineers at Gavin’s Point and Ft. Randall dams. Except for his time in the service, he lived his entire life in the Tabor area. His greatest passion in life was always motorcycle riding. He traveled many roads through the years; no ride was as dear to his heart as Iron Mt. Road. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Claudette Johnson, Carmen (John) LaCava, Christine (Mark) Young and Crystal Gerry; special friend, Eileen Tegels; sisters, Betty Trchka and Adeline Merkwan; 11 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Darlene, and infant sister, Delores.
